A photograph in 1874 of Spring Street, unusually looking south from Lonsdale Street.
Parliament House is hidden behind the trees on the left (eastern) side of Spring Street. Way off to the south, across the Yarra, we can faintly see Government House, with its tower yet to be added. On the western side of Spring Street we can identify a number of properties from Collins Street up to Little Bourke Street. We have prepared an image highlighting these properties. Bourke Street is between The Old White Hart Hotel and The Imperial Hotel. The Princess Theatre (an earlier structure) is on the corner of Little Bourke Street.
