1905 Elevated view of Melbourne from the corner of Swanston and Collins Streets

A panoramic photo by Robert Vere Scott, taken from the top of the Victoria Building, looking across the intersection of Collins and Swanston Streets. Melbourne Town Hall is on the far right of the photo. Most other buildings are long gone. The Stewart Dawson building was replaced by the Manchester Unity Building in 1932. The Town Hall Building is still there. Also still standing is Coop's Shot Tower - towards the end of Swanston Street on the right, and the ES&A Gothic Bank on the corner of Collins and Queen Streets over to the left.

Notes from the State Library tell us that the image is an "Elevated view looking north, in left foreground: three storey building with porch over footpath on left, sign for the name [...] Seymour in lights on roof and Chambers & Seymour on wall, in centre: Stewart Dawson & Co.; Town Hall on right."
