A view of Flinders Street Station during the 1930s, looking west. The first passenger railway station in Australia was built in Flinders Street and the railway line ran from Melbourne to Sandridge (now known as Port Melbourne), with the first service in 1854. This building was completed in 1909. By 1926 Flinders Street Station was the busiest railway station in the world.
