An atmospheric image of early morning Melbourne around 1925. The photographer was in Aikman Street, looking across the Yarra River towards the Flinders Street Station Clock tower, which is located at the southern end of Elizabeth Street.

Aikman Street no longer exists, but here is some detail from a map showing where the photo was taken from and the direction the photographer was looking to.

Notes from the State Library tell us that this image "Looks North to Flinders Street Station, down Aikman Street, from City Road, South Melbourne. The Alexandra Mansions and the Playhouse Theatre can be seen on the left hand side of the street. "
