A reproduction of a map published in 1814 showing the discoveries and surveys by a number of early expeditions around the South-East corner of mainland Australia. Compiled by Matthew Flinders into a consolidated map. There are some detailed inserts, one showing the entrance to Port Philip Bay, others showing details of Van Diemen's Land.
The notes from the National Library of Australia tell us that this image is from a "... leather bound volume which is inscribed 'Flinders Charts' and includes a collection of charts and views from the first issue of Matthew Flinders' charts of the southern, eastern and northern coastlines of Australia."
This is a digitally retouched reproduction of the original held by the National Library of Australia. All prints are reproduced without the HOTPRESS watermarks.
Our team of conservators have worked on a high resolution digital image in order to remove blemishes and artifacts such as stains, mould, scratches and damage caused by the handling of the original. We strive to provide authentic representations of the original work that are suitable for enlargements that retain the tones and character of the original.
